We cannot believe it; another school year is quickly coming to an end. God has blessed us with another awesome year! Pray for our student’s continued perseverance and diligence.
The elementary students that have earned reward will be leaving on Thursday, June 5 in the morning for Camp Nakamun and returning June 6 at approximately 3:00 pm to the school.
On Monday, June 9, the entire school will be delivering flyers and a treat door to door from 12:00 - 2:00 pm in the community of Devon to promote the school. We need parent volunteers to drive students to various areas. Please fill in the attached form and return it by June 4.
We have enclosed another June Exam Calendar. To help your children do their best on the year-end examinations, please ensure that they are getting proper rest and nutrition. Eating a breakfast with protein is very important every day, but absolutely crucial on test days. Protein stimulates and provides energy to the brain. In the upper elementary and junior/senior high grades, we ask that you encourage your children to spend time studying and reviewing every evening. Also, it is very important to closely follow your children’s planners every day and ensure that they complete every homework assignment to the best of their ability. Let’s keep working hard, we are almost there!
On June 14 we have the perfect opportunity for you to volunteer and to serve the school. We are having a Work Bee at 10:00 am to do improvements to the school and playground area. All families are invited as well as older students to come and give a hand to complete tasks that the staff and board have compiled as necessary.
The last week of school entails fun! On Monday, June 23, after lunch the grade 1 - 6 students will be swimming at the Devon Pool. Then on Tuesday, June 24, all students will be having a Track & Field Meet . On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 25, the students will be having a water fight and finishing with ice cream sundaes. Please bring a change of clothes for afterwards. On Thursday, June 26 (LAST DAY!!!) we will be cleaning up our classrooms in the morning and in the afternoon we will be having classroom parties! Please send goodies with your children to eat.
On the evening of June 26 at 5:00 pm we will be having a Grad Celebration for the grade 9 students. Please watch for more details. Then at 7:30 pm we will be having our Awards Night. Every student in the school will have some form of recognition (certificate, medal, trophy, etc.). Afterwards, we would like to enjoy a time of fellowship and farewell for the summer. Please indicate on the form if you are able to bring goodies for the evening.
On June 27, staff will be available for Report Card pick up from 9:00 - 11: am. Please remember that report cards will not be released until all text books and library books have been returned or paid for, nor until tuition fees have been cleared. If you need to make arrangements for payments, please contact the treasurer, Allan Gronberg at 916-5794. NEW THIS YEAR, the teachers will be available for meetings between 12:00 - 2:00 pm to discuss your child’s report card. Please ensure that your meetings are brief, as other families may wish to also meet with staff.
We are hoping to put together a family fundraiser GARAGE SALE for our school. It will be ran 1 km west of Calmar on the weekend of August 22 - 24. This is the Major Highway 39 Garage Sale weekend, as well as Calmar Days. We would love it if you could donate quality items for us to sell. Items can be dropped off at the school until the end of June, and on July 3, 8 and 10 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. If you have items to drop off after that time, please leave a message on the school’s voice mail and a staff member will contact you to make arrangements for the delivery of your items. We also need several parents (or sr. high students) to volunteer to price items, organize the tables, and to run the sale. We would prefer to have several volunteers so that there can be short time slots allotted to each volunteer. Please fill in the attached form.
